Hydro Group expand cable manufacturing capabilities by investing in a new state-of-the-art Bunching and Layup Machine.


Following a growth in demand, Hydro Group have invested further in their cable manufacturing facility with the acquisition of a new Bunching and Layup Machine. The new machine will replace the old High Speed Twinner Quadder, enabling the business to increase capability by 50% in terms of number of components within each cable design and reduce lead times, whilst maintaining superior quality which is crucial to meet demand and satisfy customers. The machine can process up to six subcomponents, providing a maximum 20mm overall diameter and will assist to maximise efficiency within Hydro Group due to its ability to run lights-out and produce longer lengths.

Hydro Group manufacture a huge range of harsh environment cables suitable for both Topside and Subsea applications including ROV Tethers, Tow Cables, Hose Umbilicals, Data Cables, Armoured Umbilicals and many more. They also have a wide range of cable designs available Ex-stock.

The latest investment is part of a long-term investment strategy which has already seen the arrival of a new extrusion line and the first of two new braiding machines.
