Hydro Group worked smarter throughout 2021, meeting the ongoing challenges and restrictions enforced by the Pandemic. Throughout the year the proactive use of our website, social media and monthly e-news updates to keep our clients informed has been of paramount importance. The use of video conferencing helped us maintain vital communication with our clients and as restrictions began to lift, Hydro Group took part in Baltexpo in Gdansk, Poland, one of the first post-pandemic economic exhibitions in Europe, dedicated to the maritime economy and shipbuilding industry. With travel restrictions lifting, we were able to visit clients in the UK, throughout Europe and worldwide. We saw the opportunity for Hydro Group to interact and network once again with its global customers through exhibitions and conferences. These events included MATS 21, Adipec, Ocean Business, Offshore Energy, FOWT 21 and Offshore Wind.
To stay at the forefront of technology and product performance, Hydro Group invested in state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and technology with a £1 million investment programme. This included the installation and commissioning of a new cable extruder line and a new 48 carrier horizontal cable braider. Benefits were realised early on. The investment successfully enhanced our manufacturing capability and significantly reduced production lead times.
Hydro Group was engaged in many defence, oil & gas and marine renewable energy projects, delivering expertise in subsea connectivity solutions with the design and manufacture of unique products for specific requirements.
2021 saw us launch our unique Fibre Optic Manned Penetrator for submersibles, diving bells and deck decompression chambers, and we supported Forum Energy with innovative product development for its latest submarine rescue vessel. Further product developments included the launch of an innovative cable jacketing material, building on the standard range of polyurethane sheathing materials. As an alternative to the standard options, the new jacketing material increased the company’s capability to supply a variety of energy industry applications.
In addition, Hydro Group were pleased to offer exciting new configurations to their growing range of Hydro Rubber Moulded (HRM) series of subsea connectors, options now include fibre optic, 50 Ohm Coax and additional Low-Profile models. We made available a more comprehensive suite of HRM connectors, featuring a range of pressure, depth, and voltage configurations, providing versatile applications for the oil & gas, marine renewable energy, and defence industry.
2021 was an exciting year for Hydro Group. We embraced change, we worked smarter with technology, we released newly developed products, we engaged and networked with our clients at events and we worked seamlessly with TREXON.
Hydro Group supports many clients in the defence, oil & gas and marine renewable energy industry. Today, we lead the way in the engineering, design, and manufacture of connectivity solutions, and look forward to continuing our achievements, innovation, momentum, and success into 2022. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients and suppliers for their continued support throughout 2021 and wish you continued growth and success in 2022.
